i haven’t really had time to make new jewellery, i’ve been so busy lately. yesterday i made a couple pairs of earrings but didn’t manage to take any pictures of them before it was too dark outside. it’s raining today so there’s no point trying to take pics without decent lighting.

so, i decided that would post some old pics of jewellery i’ve made earlier but haven’t managed to post here

here’s a necklace with botswana agates, grey freshwater pearls and sterling silver round beads. the lock and charm are hill tribe silver. the necklace is about 45 cm long and looks very nice, as far as i’m concerned!

necklace and earrings of silver and garnet. necklace is made of round garnet beads and garnet rondelles wich have been used in earrings too. the necklace has hill tribe silver toggle clasp. i really like the hand made feel of the hill tribe silver parts, i think they sit well with my pieces and add that little something with their delicate features.

i also attended wood jewellery course in january, i started quite a lot of pieces there but have not finished but two of them. here’s aalto pendant and leaf brooch which still lacks brooch pin (so much for finishing them )

Spring

Wow, my blog has been neglected for far too long… well, i’ve been busy with my life working, studying, worrying, and working a little more… this spring has been a really busy one for me so there hasn’t been much time for the fun stuff. too bad!

well, i thought it might be time to do something new with this blog so i decided to pick a new theme. it’s always difficult to choose for me but i ended up with this one. i think it’s quite sleek and simple, a bit dark for the season, but what the heck… at least it gave me chance to use a custom header so you get to see one of my bracelets! YAY!

i also thought i might add some oldish pics of my jewelry for some eyecandy to this site, so here you go!

hmm, i thought i had more pics but they seem to have been forgotten on another harddrive, so you’ll have to wait a bit longer for those… well, here are some heart pins i made during winter, there are a lot more these are just samples. hearts are needle felted and have a regular pin on the back so you can attach them to your jacket, bag or what ever you want. i think they are kind of cute, and my friends seem to like them too…

well, here’s a little update for you! i’ll try to check in more often… promise!

Flu

i’ve had a flu almost a week now and i’ve been really tired to do anything, partly because i couldn’t stay home and rest while sick. i even haven’t taken any pics for the longest time! hopefully i’ll correct that tomorrow, if i feel good enough. there’s some work that has to be done first but i think i’ll manage both

The good thing about this week is that i was featured in the front page of Etsy, or my card was. i got some sweet hits but not so many sales. well, what the heck, it was very nice and exciting to be featured on the front page, YAY!

i’ve updated my shop too lately with some new jewelry and more crop cards, so go have a look!

hopefully wou’ll get some new pics tomorrow, stay tuned!

made some earrings this week, both sterling silver and fresh water pearls, which i like very much. hope you like them too! These are named Kirsikka and Pihlaja, which means cherry and rowan.

Goals and new looks

so, it has started, the new year. i’m not sure yet what kind of goals i want to set for myself this year. one goal is clear in my head: i want to get fitter and healthier and i MUST start exercising more to be that. other goals will probably come, we’ll have to see.

lately i’ve been thinking about setting up a business, but i don’t know if that is a good idea or not. somehow i’m excited about all the possibilities that would come with it but on the other hand i’m bit worried about the taxes and succeeding in all the complicated money side it would bring with it. so i really don’t know, this far it’s just something i keep thinking over and over in my head.

i decided to change the appearance of my blog for the new year’s sake. i kind of like the cleanier and crispier look. and it does remind me of snow that we are still missing…

it’s quite hard to imagine that another year has almost passed. i feel that i’ve had a quite good year despite that we’ve had some not-so-happy-moments too. i’ve had three jobs this year (or actually i’m on my third at the moment), two of them were shorter projects and this last one is more of ongoing thing. i’ve also had the chance to be the chief editor of our student union’s magazine which has been great learning experience for me, i think.

i’ve also started new hobby: silver jewelry, which might turn into something bigger too, perhaps some day… it gives me a lot and i’m pleased to say that i’ve reguired some new skills on the way.

all in all, very good year! hope you have had a good year too and if not may the following be a much better one!

i finally also took some pictures of my new jewelry, although i don’t have pics of all my new stuff since i’ve already sold some of it and didn’t take pics! stupid me!

first pic is of my new bracelet and earrings set. they are a combination of lime green fresh water pearls and garnet beads, very lovely, i think. i’m in love with the earrings, i really haven’t worn anything else on my ears than classic gold rings but these i like very musch, as well as the bracelet. i made another version of the bracelet earlier but i think the garnet beads were too big on that one, so i didn’t like it that much. think i’ going to try sell that one.

the other pics are of some earrings i made. both are czech glass beads combined with sterling silver beads threaded onto silver gray Accu-Flex wire. quite nice i think

i also updated my shop with a Unikko-necklace, made of brecciated jasper and silver beads, go check that out!

Snow

My craft fairs are over and i’m pretty happy with the outcome. i sold quite nicely but i could have done better, so now i have quite a lot of pins and cards that i don’ t have any place for… i’ll probably list at least some of them to my etsy shop. so check there later to see some cute pins and nice cards!

i’ll try to take some pics for the shop and blog later this week (finally some pics…) when my christmas leave starts. btw, yay for christmas, i’m pretty tired and behind in my school work, so i’ll finally have some time to sleep, relax and catch up and probably craft a little too!

Edit: oh, we finally have some snow and a little colder weather, though that’s suppose to change again on thursday… so we’ll still have to wait and see if we have black or white christmas!

Tired

Umm.. no new pics still… i’ve been really lazy and tired lately. last week we had our independence day on wednesday the 6th, we went to our cabin for a few days and i must say that i could hace stayed there longer! even though the weather was terrible, raining every day (even though it’s december and supposedly winter… go figure) we took quite long walks, bathed in the sauna every evening and tried “swimming” (more like dipping) in the almost freezing water (everyone should try it at least once, it very envigorating, i promise you that!) . the best thing was absolutely having no computer to be drawn to all the time, so i got a lot of crafts done. i used almost all of my semi precious stones, so i’m certainly dreaming about making an order to firemountain gems again (or do have other suggestions for an online bead shop that has good quality stones at a reasonable price that also shipis to finland? yeah, i know, at lot of demands…) only thing that bugs me is that i was supposed to go to this craft fair on saturday but the weather was so bad and as i don’t own a tent, there was no idea to go there and stand in the rain for the whole day. i didn’t fancy getting sick and i don’t think i could have displayed any of my cards… so, it bugs me, but i am going to another craft fair here in tampere this weekend (if you happen to come from tampere, come and say hello at Annikin puutalokorttelin myyjäiset on saturday from 11-17, more info on http://www.annikinkatu.net ).

i also landed that job i mentioned earlier, and i’ve been working for the past two days. the first day was pretty bad, i felt really useless but today was a bit better. we’ll see how it goes from here well, i’ll better getting some sleep soon, as i have a lot to day tomorrow. hopefully i’ll have some pics this weekend to show

Craft fairs and preparations for one

i can’t believe it’s tuesday already! days go by SO quickly. i don’t know what’s really bugging me but i’ve been THE laziest person lately, i can’t seem to get anything done, except prepare for my craft shows next month. that’s the only bright side but i must say i’m quickly falling behind with my school work, which isn’t any good at all. this week i’m trying to catch up, since i got offered a job i’d be fool to refuse, even though i’m not perhaps overly enthused about it. but it WOULD bring money , so i must give it a try

weekend was nice, on friday i spent almost the whole day on a craft fair and spent waaaay too much money, but i did buy only stuff i needed (except for one book i’ve been drooling over for a couple of months: labeena ishaque’s creating papercrafts). it wasn’t too expensive either, just something i really didn’t need. now i also have almost everything to be able to do some silversmithing here at home, still few things missing, but i think i’ll get there soon enough…

on saturday we had some relatives’ responsibilities but on sunday i managed to make some moore xmas cards and felted heart pins (pics about those later when i finally get enough energy to shoot them…. my plan is to make 60 heart pins for this years craft shows, i still have about 40 to go, so we’ll see how i end up *grin*. i have too many ideas to pick from, so it’s really difficult to start but at least i got something already done, knowing that’s very good.
